Tomas main focus is on development and applications of optical sensors and measurement techniques. Important applications areas include the pharmaceutical industry and biomedical science (analytical chemistry, as well as gas sensing). He is also conducting fundamental studies on light propagation in complex, highly scattering materials.
Background
Tomas received his MSc in Applied Physics & Electrical Engineering from Linköping University in 2002. At Linköping University, he also worked as a teacher in mathematics and mathematical statistics. In 2003, he moved to Lund and became a PhD student with Prof. Stefan Andersson-Engels. The research was conducted in collaboration with Astra Zeneca R&D. He received a PhD in Physics from Lund University in April 2008, based on work on development and applications of photon time-of-flight spectroscopy and laser-based gas sensing. His thesis received a PHABIAN Award in 2008, an annual reward for the best theses within the field of pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis.
